Obesity is not just a problem with appearance but one of health. Overweight and obesity are associated with heart disease, certain types of cancer, type 2 diabetes, stroke, arthritis, breast problems and psychological disorders, such as depression. Each year in the United States 300,000 deaths are associated with obesity. Even moderate weight excess increase the risk of death, particularly in adults aged 30 to 64 years.
If you are struggling with your weight and/or have made the decision to drop those unwanted pounds, you may be interested in a weight loss research study. Volunteers are needed to participate in a 16-visit, 13-month weight reduction study.
The purpose of this research study is to evaluate weight loss in subjects after 56 weeks of treatment with the combination of two drugs: Naltrexone SR and Bupropion SR in one pill compared to a placebo (an inactive substance).
To qualify you must be:
• 18 to 65 years of age
• Relatively healthy overweight/obese male or female
• Willing to follow a prescribed diet and exercise program
Qualified participants will receive at no cost:
• Frequent dietary counseling
• Study related examinations and labs
• Study medication
• Compensation
