Do
you have Knee Pain?
Osteoarthritis, or OA, is the most common form of arthritis. In osteoarthritis, changes occur in both the cartilage (gel like substance) and bone of joints that lead to joint pain, stiffness and swelling. Osteoarthritis can affect any joint, but it occurs most often in the knee(s).Oral non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are widely used for the treatment of OA. However, the most common occurring side effects of these medications are gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms.
Clinical
Research Associates, Inc., is seeking volunteers to participate in our OA of the knee study evaluating a topical research medication patch. Topical medications have the advantage of delivering medication directly to the knee with minimal systemic exposure. The objective of this 12-week, nine visit study is to learn whether a research medication patch relieves pain associated with OA of the knee and/or provides more pain relieving effects than a patch containing no medication (called placebo patch) when applied to the knee that has OA.
Eligible
candidates must:
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Have OA of one or both knees which requires medications most days
- Be relatively healthy
