Clinical Research Associates Heartburn is a common complaint. Approximately 20% of adults in the United States suffer with heartburn. Treatments for heartburn include antacids, various over-the-counter medications such as Pepcid, Tagamet and prescription medications.
This five week, five office visit study seeks to demonstrate that daily doses of lansoprazole (Prevacid), a FDA approved medication, is effective in increasing the proportion of days with no nighttime heartburn during 14 days of treatment compared to placebo, an inactive substance.
To qualify for this you must be :
• 18 years of age or older
• Experiencing nighttime heartburn on at least two days per week
• Otherwise healthy
