More than 5 million Americans have both high blood pressure and diabetes, which is a growing concern for health care providers. High blood pressure and diabetes are both risk factors for heart disease, as well as other serious medical problems like heart attack and stroke. Having both of these conditions puts people at even higher risk, so maintaining blood pressure within normal range is even more important for diabetics.
We are conducting a research study to compare how different blood pressure medications work to lower blood pressure in diabetic patients. The individual drugs in this research study are all FDA-approved to treat high blood pressure.
To be eligible for this study, you must:
- Have Type 2 Diabetes
- Be newly diagnosed as having high blood pressure or have uncontrolled high blood pressure even though you are on medication
- Have your diabetes under control (and do not require insulin)
- Not have any major heart problems within the past year
Qualified participants receive study-related medical evaluations and study medication at no cost, as well as compensation for time and travel.
