According to the World Health Organization, hypertension is the most common attributable cause of preventable death in developed nations. Uncontrolled hypertension (high blood pressure) greatly increases the risk of other health problems.
This 9-week, 9-visit research study is being conducted to evaluate the change in 24-hour systolic blood pressure by ambulatory blood pressure monitoring in response to an investigational medication compared to placebo (an inactive substance) and Benicar (an FDA approved medication) for 6 weeks in subjects with essential high blood pressure
To participate you must be at least 18 years of age, relatively healthy and have elevated blood pressure.
Participants will receive:
• Study related exams
• Study medication
• Compensation for time and travel
• 24-Hour Blood Pressure Monitoring
